BUILDING COMMUNITY through Housing, Education, Employment, Affirmation & Advocacy
SOTERIA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION advocates for economic and social justice for those and their families impacted by the criminal justice system. Thousands of families in our community are affected by incarceration, poor financial management, and a lack of education. As a community development corporation (CDC), Soteria CDC is passionate about extending a helping hand to our brothers and sisters.

By offering both short-term and long-term support, Soteria helps returning citizens to get back on their feet and build a sustainable, healthy life. Over the past 5 years, only 7% of 6 month graduates in our Residential Reentry Program returned to prison, and 0% for 12 month graduates. We served 14 families in our low-income rental properties and acquired 4 additional homes in 2023 that are currently being renovated for Soteria Graduates as criminal backgrounds prevent decent housing options.
We host Record Examinations to help the community determine if they are eligible for expungements, and if so - we have an Expungement Fund to cover 1/2 of the cost (which on average is $310 per charge).
Our social enterprise uses woodworking to teach job skills, and combined with our rental properties provides a revenue stream to decrease our reliance on grant funding.
Soteria CDC empowers low-income families with resources and training to help them reach a place of self-sufficiency, and we work with government, churches, organizations, and local leaders to create long-term and sustainable change in our community.
You have the opportunity to transform the trajectory of families in need in the Greenville community. Donations to Soteria CDC help individuals and families get back on their feet through education, temporary housing, and employment opportunities.
